I was captivated by the vibrant colors and the complex biology of a thriving reef. But I quickly realized something frustrating: keeping it alive was harder than it should be.
The industry was full of conflicting advice, cheap equipment, and "maintenance guys" who treated living ecosystems like swimming pools. I saw hobbyists failing, fish dying, and beautiful tanks turning into green, algae-filled swamps.
